Part One: The Problem
The bathroom had plenty of square footage, but it wasn’t being used well. A large soaking tub took up space without being used, while the shower felt cramped and impractical for daily use.
The goal was to fix how the space works. That meant removing what wasn’t useful, expanding what is, and creating a layout that feels intentional and easy to use every day.
Some issues with their old shower were...
Dated shower
An older shower setup with an extended shower arm and handheld attachment, giving the space an outdated appearance and reducing the clean, modern look homeowners expect.
Peeling bathtub surface
A bathtub with significant peeling and worn finish, exposing the underlying surface and creating an unattractive appearance that is difficult to keep clean.
Aging toilet and tight layout
An older toilet positioned in a narrow bathroom layout, highlighting limited floor space and a design that feels cramped and dated.
Cramped tub/shower enclosure
A small tub-and-shower combination enclosed by walls on multiple sides, making the bathing area feel confined and less functional than modern walk-in shower designs.
Part Two: The Design and Planning
Instead of starting with finishes, we started with the layout.
We removed the oversized tub footprint and reallocated that space into a larger, more open shower. A freestanding tub was then reintroduced in a way that feels purposeful, not forced.
One constraint was the two existing windows. Rather than working around them awkwardly, we incorporated them into the design so they feel balanced within the new layout.
The end result is a space that feels open, functional, and visually clean without increasing the footprint.
We prepped the areas in the house where we’ll walk on so we keep everything neat. Then, we demoed the old shower.

Part Three: The Time Schedule
We made sure everything was clear and transparent at all times, including the schedule.
